Latoya brings superior drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills to her practice, having worked at two significant Canadian corporations and articled at one of Durham Region's most reputable family law firms. Latoya is an assertive and talented lawyer, with a keen eye for detail and an extensive legal background. Her commercial and family law experience has prepared her to be a strong advocate for her diverse clientele.
Ms. Thompson is passionate about protecting the decision-making rights of parents and the safety of children. This is demonstrated through the volunteer and community work that she undertakes. She is also involved in ensuring that larger segments of society gain greater access to the legal system, devoting 10% percent of her practice to clients on legal aid or referred through justicenet. Latoya is a strong proponent of the movement towards empowering self-represented litigants. As a result, she offers a broad range of unbundled legal services (limited scope retainers) in her practice, aimed at ensuring that self-represented litigants are informed and prepared when representing themselves in court.
Outside of her work, Latoya is actively involved in her community. She is a lover of old books and can be found reading the likes of Lamartine and Hemingway.
